MMK is among the world's largest steel producers and is one of the leaders of Russia's steel industry. The company's operations in Russia include a large steel producing complex encompassing the entire production chain, from preparation of iron ore to downstream processing of rolled steel. MMK turns out a broad range of steel products with a predominant share of higher value added products. MMK realizes MMK-Atakas project in Turkey with annual capacity of 2.3 mln tons of flat steel. In 2010 MMK Group produced 11.4 mln tons of crude steel and 10.4 mln tons of commercial steel products. The MMK Group's revenue in 2009 totaled USD 5.081 bn, with EBITDA at USD 1.285 bn, and the profit for the period at USD 219 m.

MMK Group completes sale of Belon energy business

Open Joint Stock Company Belon, part of Magnitogorsk ,Iron & Steel Works Group (MMK), has completed the sale of its energy business including 100 percent shares of Listvyazhnaya Coal Mine and 100 percent shares of Listvyazhnaya Preparation Plant to SDS-Coal Holding Company. The deal is reported to total US$ 280 million.

MMK-Atakas commissions electric arc furnace facility

MMK-Atakas, a joint venture of OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) and Atakas Group, has commissioned an electric arc furnace facility at the industrial complex in Iskenderun (Turkey) in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

MMK posted the 2010 results of its Environmental Program implementation today. In pursuit of a better ecology by reducing and preventing harmful impact on the environment the company implemented 35 special projects for the total of over 2.2 billion rubles (over $73 mln). Most of the projects were aimed at developing increasingly safe water and gas purification systems and waste disposal facilities. MMK said it would work on ten additional projects of the kind in 2011.
