The Car Refinishes Instruction Centre at Akzo Nobel was host to the cast and crew from the ‘Is Born’ series in April. The ‘Is Born’ team were filming their next series for the Discovery Home & Leisure channel, which features a 4x4 being built from scrap and salvage in a tight time frame. The 4x4 was brought partially complete into Akzo Nobel’s Abingdon headquarters to be painted and filmed for the series which is currently airing. |

Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes has introduced a new version of its highly successful CarInfo bodyshop management system that is being rolled out in Western Europe at the moment. CarInfo³ is the successor to the CarInfo II package, which currently has some 2,000 users in northwestern Europe. The CarInfo system is designed for bodyshops that are not affiliated to a single car brand, or for dealer organizations with repair activities that are not integrated with the dealer business. The new package offers improved integration with our other IT systems, such as the Mixit system and a range of new e-business applications. |

Akzo Nobel has launched two new Dynacoat products for Western European customers: Dynacoat Putty Multifill and Acrylic Filler 4+1. Both products are fully compliant with EU VOC regulation 2007. The Dynacoat Putty Multifill will replace the Polyester Bodyfiller since it has better properties at a similar price level. The Dynacoat Putty multifill can be used on a wide range of substrates. |

After a period of laboratory and bodyshop tests, the manufacturers Peugeot and Citroën have given worldwide approval to Sikkens Autoclear WB. Sikkens Autoclear WB was launched. PSA is the first car manufacturer to approve the waterborne clearcoat for all its body repair shops. Based on a unique patented technology, Sikkens Autoclear WB is the first waterborne refinish clearcoat not only to dry in just 35 minutes, but also appear white on the panel when first sprayed to make it easier for the painter to control coverage. Citroën and Peugeot are advising their networks to switch to complete waterborne refinish systems that match the waterborne paint used on-line in the automotive industry. |

Akzo Nobel has developed a unique temporary paint system which can peeled off after use. Known as Maskin, the product can be applied to any non-porous surface, such as a vehicle body or windows, without risk of damage to the original finish. Quickly and easily removed, it is ideal for either protection or promotional purposes. Devised from the latest waterborne technology, Maskin (a combination of the words mask and skin) is available in eight basic colors, plus one transparent film, and can be mixed to create a wide spectrum of shades. When no longer required, the film can be peeled and disposed of using standard paint waste removal methods. |

Developed from the latest technology, Lesonal Topcoat HS420 offers significant advantages over the well-established Lesonal 2K Topcoat it will replace. By the introduction of Topcoat HS420 Lesonal has now completed their VOC compliant product assortment to fulfill legislation which will be enforced at bodyshops in Western Europe from 2007 onwards.
