M&G is a family owned chemical engineering company headquartered in Tortona, Italy. It develops innovative and cost effective PET resins for container packaging and is presently the world’s second largest producer of PET for packaging applications with production capacity of 1.3 million tonnes per annum. Group sales proceeds in 2003 were $1.6 billion of which around 80% were derived from operations involving PET.

M&G Group is divided into three business units, PET Polymer, PET Packaging and Acetates. In Europe, M&G has capacity to produce around 2.5 billion preforms per annum at two locations in Italy. It operates the largest SSP unit in North America and has the current world’s largest PET production unit (1200t/d) at its Altamira facility in Mexico. The Group has manufacturing assets in Brazil, Italy, Mexico and USA. The Group supports three R&D Facilities; Italy, USA and Brazil.

 

M&G to Build World’s Largest PET Plant in Brazil

The M&G Group today confirmed plans to build the world’s largest PET plant near the town of Ipojuca which is in the State of Pernambuco, North Eastern Brazil. The new plant will have a capacity of 450kt/year (approximately 990 million lbs/year) and is expected to come on-stream in late 2006.

M&G’s ActiTUF™ Receives Recyclability Endorsement from Petcore

The M&G Group announces that Petcore’s Expert Evaluation Committee, which includes experts from a number of European national collection agencies, has given full recyclability endorsement to ActiTUF™ resins for all coloured bottle applications and a provisional endorsement, lasting two years, for ActiTUF™ resins for clear and light blue applications.

The M&G Group has confirmed plans to build the world’s largest PET plant near the town of Ipojuca which is in the State of Pernambuco, North Eastern Brazil. The new plant will have a capacity of 450kt/year (approximately 990 million lbs/year) and is expected to come on-stream in late 2006.

M&G completes $250 million private bond offering

Mossi & Ghisolfi International – a wholly owned subsidiary of M&G Group, holding M&G’s PET and acetate interests – has completed today the sale of $ 250 million of senior notes, due 2009 and 2012, in the US private placement market. Sole agent bank for the transaction was Barclays Capital.

M&G Announces Laboratory Move and Confirms Commitment to Technology

M&G’s US research facility currently in Akron, Ohio, will move to a wholly owned facility in Sharon Center, Ohio, south of Cleveland. This move follows the completion in 2001 of a new European laboratory for M&G, which was constructed in Rivalta near Milan, Italy.

M&G Installs New PET Recycling Facility at Point Pleasant, West Virginia, USA

M&G announced today that it has entered into a joint development agreement with Petrecycle Pty Ltd., a portfolio company of Vital Capital Pty. Ltd., to construct, operate, test and evaluate patented technology provided by Petrecycle on a commercial-scale at M&G’s Point Pleasant plant in West Virginia, USA.
