Recent expansion of the size range for Sandvik Sanmac, enhanced machinability, stainless steel hollow bar, has enabled Sandvik Materials Technology to compete effectively in the large diameter size area, where centrifugally cast hollow bar has traditionally held a strong market share. The new, larger diameter sizes, between 300mm outside diameter by 200mm inside diameter and 420mm by 300mm, are produced in stainless steel grades Sandvik Sanmac 304L and 316L. They have all of the improved machinability benefits of the Sanmac family of stainless steels, which do not jepordise key properties such as corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. All are available from stock in lengths of 3.5 to 5 metres. |

A new metal-to-metal composite, Sandvik Bioline Cored Wire, as used in pacemaker and defibrillator leads, and which combines the optimum mechanical and physical properties of two materials, has been launched by Sandvik. The new Sandvik Bioline product is a composite of an outer Cobalt/Nickel/Chromium/Molybdenum alloy tube and a pure silver core. The outer component has excellent biocompatibility and fatigue properties, whilst the inner silver core provides high electrical efficiency, electrical conductivity and low resistance. |

Sandvik Materials Technology and Tenaris have been awarded contracts to supply the majority of the corrosion resistant alloy, needs for the Qatar Gas 3 & 4, and Qatar Shell GTL Pearl projects in the North Field, offshore Qatar. The order is for seamless production tubing in Sandvik Sanicro 28, with TenarisBlue premium connections, which will be delivered according to drilling schedules over the next three years. The supply agreements are the result of a strategic alliance signed by Sandvik and Tenaris two years ago. Working together, both companies have demonstrated a strong commitment to serve the oilfield market with high-end products and services for the most critical applications. This includes the development of CRA materials (13Cr and 25Cr) with TenarisBlue Dopeless connections, as well as other made-to-order specialty products. |
