Wear-resistant grade of AMODEL Polyphthalamide selected for first thrust washer application

AMODEL AT-6130 HS polyphthalamide resin is one of a new family of PPA materials developed by Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. This glass-fiber reinforced grade was originally designed to be used for snap-fit electronic connectors in the automotive industry. To that end, this grade exhibits greater elongation than other AMODEL products that are 30% glass-fiber reinforced.

A new low-coolant sensor from Entratech Systems of Sandusky, Ohio is designed to be located in the radiators of trucks, off-road vehicles, and marine equipment. New dip tubes for self-cleaning commercial water heaters

Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. announced today that APCOM, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of A.O. Smith Water Products Company, has chosen UDEL polysulfone for dip tubes used in the new Hydro Cannon and Eliminator self-cleaning systems used in many of their commercial water heaters.

First injection molded air intake manifold for automotive performance

The new LSX air intake manifold, introduced at the November Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show by Fuel-Air-Spark Technologies (F.A.S.T.), is the first known composite manifold to be produced for the automotive performance aftermarket. F.A.S.T., a company in the Competition Cams group of performance parts providers, had two key partners in this innovative project, along with renowned airflow expert Keith Wilson of Wilson Manifolds.

AMODEL PPA replaces aluminum in fuel-air rail severe operating environment demands strength & durability

A grade of AMODEL polyphthalamide from Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. has replaced aluminum in the fuel-air rail in a system developed by Synerject for use on European motor scooters. The rail distributes fuel and air to the scooter’s single-cylinder, two-stroke engine. The engine’s Orbital Combustion Process features an air-assisted injector mounted in the cylinder head that sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber.

Engineers at Delphi Automotive Systems have chosen a grade of AMODEL polyphthalamide from Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. for the engine air control valve for an outboard engine application. Commonly called a “throttle body,” the valve controls the amount of intake air that goes to the engine.
