Dr Graeme Woodrow, Chief of CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies, today made a statement regarding the project undertaken by CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies to determine the structure of the insulin receptor.Dr Graeme Woodrow, Chief of CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies, today made the following statement: “The project undertaken by CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies to determine the structure of the insulin receptor reached a natural conclusion earlier this year with the publication of the discovery in the prestigious journal Nature. “Dr Ward will remain with CSIRO as an Honorary Fellow and will continue to make a significant contribution to the organisation.”“The project’s leader, Dr Colin Ward, agreed to postpone his retirement to take the project to this stage. The discovery of the insulin receptor structure is a significant achievement but there are still many years of follow-up work required to take this project forward. “The next phase of the project, which is more academic in nature, is best undertaken by a research institution better suited to this type of work and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute have willingly agreed to take on this phase. |
