3M Abrasive Systems teams up with Dynabrade and Surtech to demonstrate latest grinding technologies

3M Europe : 30 June, 2006  (Company News)
Manufacturing efficiency can be improved in one stop as 3M joins forces with two top tool suppliers to offer consultation on grinding issues, and demonstrate the latest in abrasive technology.
3M Abrasive products deliver the highest levels of productivity; consistency; surface quality and operating life. They also benefit operators through reduced vibration and noise. 3M has teamed up with machinery suppliers Dynabrade and Surtech to explain how users can reap the benefits of today's advanced grinding technology.

Available for individual consultation, 3M experts will demonstrate the full range of 3M abrasive products using the latest Dynabrade pneumatic systems, and Surtech electrical tools. Among the newest products on show will be 3M 947D & 3M Trizact CF Abrasive Belts, plus the range of Scotch-Brite Bristle Abrasives for applications including weld cleaning. There will even be a chance to catch a first glimpse of the latest Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Product, due to hit the market later this year.

3M also intends to run live hand-arm vibration tests using 3M Green Corps Flexible Grinding Discs. There will be a host of other products on demonstration as well, including 3M's top performing 985C Fibre Disc.

'This is a fantastic opportunity to see the latest grinding technology in action,' says Jonathan McGargle, Business Development manager at 3M Abrasive Systems. 'It also offers visitors the unique chance to consult both the abrasive materials and the machinery experts simultaneously, making the most efficient use of time at the show. Our long term relationships with both Dynabrade and Surtech have led to the development of closely integrated grinding solutions that match the best abrasive materials with the latest pneumatic and electric tool systems. Visitors will find out how we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of different tooling operations, and how we can work with them to solve their grinding problems.'

The recently released 985C fibre disc, designed for aggressive high pressure applications where large amounts of metal must be removed, will be on show along with the latest belt equivalent, 3M 947D. Both benefit from a high cut rate and brilliant consistency through the product life, with reduced noise and vibration when partnered with the right tools. The resultant reduction in grinding stages and increased operation life accumulates significant cost savings over time.

Also on show will be the new 3M Trizact CF belt system. This product features an innovative macro-replicated design with 3D abrasive deposits on the surface. Like the original micro-replicated design, it wears down in a predictable fashion to reveal new mineral deposits, providing a consistent cut throughout the product life. It is ideal for earlier finishing operations than the other Trizact abrasives, where a measured finish in still required, such as on turbine blades.
