All the new production installations are state-of-the-art facilities, at Bayer

Bayer MaterialScience AG : 01 September, 2007  (Company News)
MaterialScience
MaterialScience’s extensive specialist expertise in the area of production technology guarantees that all the installations easily meet the standards imposed by the Chinese authorities and global standards with regard to occupational safety and environmental protection.

Partnerships for a sustainable future
Local workers will make up a large proportion of the workforce at the Shanghai site, with many already filling managerial positions. For the purposes of fostering professional vocational training, Bayer has, among other initiatives, entered into a cooperation project with the Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. Bayer has allocated one million Euros for the establishment of a state-of-the-art laboratory, a pilot plant and a pipe-mounting workshop. These have been accommodated in a brand-new building that SPA has built on the school’s campus, in close proximity to the Bayer site.

Following the system of dual education as commonly applied in Germany and other European countries, students of SPA will be selected to receive formal training in chemical engineering with the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in the practical environment of the lab and the workshops. To round-out the course, the students are required to do an internship of up to twelve weeks in Bayer’s production plants currently being built at the Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park in Shanghai.
