Collaboration with Irish BioVentures to assist BTG in finding, developing and commercialising technologies

BTG : 29 September, 2006  (Company News)
BTG, the global technology commercialisation company, today announced a strategic alliance with Irish BioVentures International Ltd, Ireland
IBV will work with BTG to source and review Intellectual Property assets and venture opportunities within the life sciences. This agreement enables BTG to expand its sourcing activities in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

IBV will utilise its extensive high-quality network of contacts in the life sciences in Ireland to identify and pre-screen new technology investment opportunities that reflect BTG’s strategic focus areas, whilst liaising with BTG’s assessment teams and utilising BTG’s expertise. In addition, IBV will provide local management and business development services to the sources of technology. IBV will concurrently continue to provide management support and consultancy services to developing enterprises in the life science sector in Ireland. In return, IBV will be remunerated for raising awareness of BTG in Ireland, through its technology sourcing activities, and will additionally receive a revenue share for the Irish technologies that are successfully acquired and commercialised by BTG.

Anthony V. Lando, BTG’s Chief Operating Officer commented: “ Whilst it is known across the life science industry that mainland Europe and the USA are significant sources of technology, BTG has recognised that Ireland is a rapidly growing resource. This agreement enables BTG to work with IBV to help sources of IP realise their true potential, bringing innovations to market.”

“BTG is a global leader in commercialisation of novel technologies, our collaboration will allow BTG’s extensive expertise to be applied across technology commercialisation and venture investment in Ireland. This is a new and important path to market for Irish inventors and entrepreneurs’, said Mary G. Skelly, IBV’s Chief Executive Officer.
