ComMedica completes implementation of MIL software development toolkit in its DICOM Image Viewer Software

Matrox Graphics Inc., and ComMedica, providers of specialized web-based medical imaging and information solutions to the radiology and ophthalmology markets, today announced that ComMedica has implemented features of the Matrox Imaging Library software development toolkit in its DICOM Image Viewer Software. This completion has enabled the viewing of 1024 simultaneous shades of gray from up to 16-bit source images and has resulted in the quality of display output images on the ComMedica Image Viewer to be further enhanced.

This completion has enabled the viewing of 1024 simultaneous shades of gray from up to 16-bit source images and has resulted in the quality of display output images on the ComMedica Image Viewer to be further enhanced.

Providing hardware acceleration for optimized MIL functions, the Matrox MED Series of display controllers are equipped with extensive multi-monitor and OpenGL support, along with pristine image quality and rock-solid drivers, and are capable of driving all types of displays for advanced functionality and flexibility to medical imaging professionals.

An award-winning, field-proven, high-level programming library, MIL recently celebrated 10 years of excellence. This software development toolkit features an extensive set of optimized functions for image capture, display, graphics, archiving, and image processing and analysis. Medical applications can take advantage of image processing functions such as arithmetic, spatial and temporal filters. Such operations can also run on image processing accelerators like Matrox Odyssey under the same API. Furthermore, images can be compressed/decompressed with JPEG and JPEG2000 algorithms in appropriately configured environments. At a minimum, MIL supports the basic display controller subsystem to enable hardware accelerated display functions available on Matrox products like the MED Series.
