Moog introduces new value-priced brushless servomotors

Moog Inc., Industrial Controls Division, introduced the G330 Series Brushless Servomotor, a value-priced family of brushless motors that deliver high-performance servocontrol, simplify machine design and improve system costs.

The G330 Series motor, now available worldwide, is designed to deliver dynamic servo control in material handling, packaging, forming and specialty machinery applications. The G330 Series motor retains Moog’s signature for more power per dimension, with a continuous torque range of 0.5 to 5 Nm (4.4 to 44 lb-in) and speeds of up to 9,300 rpm.

'The G330 Series motor, combined with Moog's value-priced L180 Series Digital Servo Drive, makes high performance servo controls viable even in cost-sensitive applications,' said Tim Wutz, marketing manager, Moog.

Streamlined to address typical application needs, the G330 Series motor is available in 55mm, 70mm and 100mm frame sizes. Standard flange and shaft dimensions per IEC 34/NEMA MG7 are compatible with a variety of third-party actuation products.

Features and benefits of the G330 Series Brushless Servo Motor include:

High motor dynamics to improve cycle time: The G330 Series combines a high power density design with a low inertia rotor to deliver dynamic operation. The G330 Series motor uses a fully laminated, weight-optimized rotor to provide a significant inertia reduction over conventional, solid rotor designs. The high power density design leverages next-generation rare earth magnet technology, a high-pole-count electrical design and thermally efficient construction.

Compact, lightweight, construction to simplify machine design: With an all-aluminum housing, the G330 Series motor provides high continuous torque in a compact, lightweight package to achieve both high-power density and a high torque-to-weight ratio. The compact, lightweight, package provides greater flexibility and enables new cost-saving approaches to machine construction.

Proprietary, low cogging design to deliver smooth, low-speed operation: The G330 Series motor features several design enhancements to deliver smooth, slow-speed performance, including a high-pole electromagnetic design, a stator with non-symmetric slot count and other proprietary features to minimize cogging.
Rugged, maintenance-free design to boost overall system availability: G330 Series motors, which feature next-generation NdFeB-based magnets, are capable of delivering fully rated performance with ambient temperatures as high as 55° Celsius. The use of high reliability resolvers, sealed lifetime lubricated bearings, CE-approved metal connectors and sealed housing combine to extend service life.
