New Suprarex Systems offer higher quality and lower cost cutting

ESAB Automation's SUPRAREX portal cutting machine range is made up of extremely versatile machines delivering highly efficient, functional and economic production with a consistently high quality cutting standard. A modular design allows SUPRAREX to be adapted to meet customers' requirements.
SUPRAREX has cutting of widths between 3000 and 8000 mm and up to 12 tool stations to cater for both present and future requirements. High precision guidance and positioning allows the maximum accuracy from the cutting process. Process flexibility that includes plasma and oxy-fuel cutting as well as marking is also provided.

For the highest quality plasma cutting, the SUPRAREX is configured with the essential qualities of high speed, acceleration and manoeuvrability. Servo controlled 3 axis rack and pinion drives deliver optimum performance.

All plasma torches are integrated with ESAB's collision protection system to protect the torch from mechanical damage and to provide a fast convenient way to change torch consumables. The quality of the plasma process is greatly influenced by the torch to workpiece height and ESAB has developed a range of initial and cutting height controls which guarantee the optimum performance for each plasma system. Plasma systems can be used with dry fume extraction tables or alternatively with water tables with the ability to undertake cutting under or above water.

For oxy-fuel cutting, dependent upon model, the SUPRAREX can be equipped with up to 12 torches and can be used with oxygen and a variety of fuel gases including propane, acetylene, natural gas and other commercially available fuel gases.

An automatic preheat piercing and cutting system can be supplied which combined with proportional valves for continuous press control, guarantees an optimum and consistent cutting quality.

Oxy-fuel weld edge and bevel preparation work with the SUPRAREX can be carried out with the 90 manually swivelable three torch unit which is used for straight line bevel cuts in longitudinal or transverse axis with the unit indexed. Alternatively a continuously rotating three torch unit which is used for curvilinear bevel cuts in any axis is also available. An integrated cutting database can be incorporated into the control unit to set automatically the cutting parameters ensuring the optimum cut with the minimum set up time.

The advantages of premarking metal plates and profiles with geometric information or alphanumeric text are now widely acknowledged. All the common methods of marking are available for interface into the SUPRAREX system, including pneumatic punching, zinc powder marking, plasma marking and ink jet marking.
