Trexel and Arburg Execute OEM Reseller Agreement

Trexel : 20 April, 2011  (New Product)
Trexel and Arburg have executed an OEM reseller agreement, under which Arburg
Trexel, Inc. and Arburg have entered into a new OEM agreement where Trexel will provide Arburg with supercritical foam (SCF) gas dosing hardware and in turn, customers are now able to purchase from Arburg a turnkey MuCell injection molding machine. Under the terms of the new agreement, no separate license agreements or license costs are necessary. The rights to practice Trexel’s extensive patent portfolio are automatically transferred with purchase of MuCell hardware. This applies to all Trexel hardware purchases, regardless if bought through Arburg, or directly from Trexel.

“Arburg was an early adopter of the MuCell process, and our company has been a Trexel Licensee since 2001,” said Herbert Kraibuehler, Managing Director Technology & Engineering.

Arburg offers a strong applications engineering group, and we’re used to bringing technology solutions to our customers. Our global sales organization will promote and sell turnkey MuCell injection molding systems,” he said.

In the past, as a regular Licensee, Arburg was licensed to provide their customer with a MuCell enabled machine and the right to grant sublicenses to their customers. However, the molder/ end user had to purchase a Series II or III SCF gas dosing system from Trexel, which added administrative burden and left the end user with the coordination of installation and training efforts of two suppliers.

Trexel executed a similar reselling agreement with Krauss Maffei last year. This new injection machinery OEM model has accelerated the deployment of MuCell systems globally in the automotive, packaging, electronics and appliance industries.

“Arburg’s application engineering team has been supporting MuCell applications for their customers for a long time,” said Steve Braig, Trexel’s President and CEO. “This new agreement makes it easier for both our companies to better serve and be more responsive to the needs of our customers globally. Our customers enjoy the benefit of obtaining a turnkey solution from a single source supplier. This model has been working very well and is well received in the market,” added Braig.
