Vishay extends MPM and ORN series

Two new precision thin film resistor networks announced today by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. extend the ratio tolerance of the company's MPM and ORN matched-pair and quad resistor networks to a new industry low of just 0.01% in standard molded SOT 23 and 8 pin SOIC packages.
Intended for use in instrumentation amplifiers, precision voltage dividers, and bridge network circuitry, the Vishay Thin Film devices released today provide an alternative to technologies such as wirewound or hermetic packaging previously required to maintain such a low tolerance.

In addition to being precision-matched to 0.01% ratio tolerance for like resistance values, new devices in the MPM series of thin film resistor dividers feature temperature coefficient ratio tracking of 2 ppm/C and provide exceptional stability for all surface-mount applications. Standard divider ratio options for the MPM series range from 1:1 to 100:1. A large selection of off-the-shelf standard divider ratios ensures immediate availability of an appropriate component for most applications, and custom non-standard ratios are available on request.

Built with highly stable thin film and packaged in a rugged, molded 8 pin SOIC construction, the newest additions to the ORN family of dual-in-line resistor networks feature four isolated resistors with standard 50 mil pitch lead spacing. With close TCR tracking of 5 ppm/C and tight ratio tolerance down to 0.01%, ORN devices are ideally suited for unity gain operational amplifier circuitry. Nine standard resistance values ranging from 500 Ω to 100 KΩ are available for immediate delivery.

As replacements for discrete chip resistors, the MPM and ORN series devices combine space savings and superior performance, with resistive elements integrated within a single package onto a common substrate and resulting in near-identical conditions over time and temperature for each element.

Samples and production quantities of the new devices are available now, with a lead time of two to six weeks for larger orders.
