MAGICS TOOLING EXPERT 2.0 SOFTWARE FOR MOULD ANALYSIS AND QUOTING: SIMPLY THE BEST!
17 July 2003 - Materialise NV

Materialise - industry leader in STL handling and manipulation software - just released its latest innovations in software for the (rapid) tooling industry.

Its tool quoting software, Magics Tooling Expert has been updated with a great deal of customer-driven enhancements and novelties . Magics Tooling Expert 2.0 includes new, advanced features that boost productivity and, more importantly, that meet the toolmakers' demands for customisation of the software to their specific needs in analysis and tool quotation.

Fried Vancraen, Managing Director of Materialise is convinced of the added value of this major upgrade: 'It's amazing what our tooling software team has done. After creating a technological breakthrough for mould analysis and quotation with version 1, they have integrated close to all customer requests in version 2. Stunning is that they created such rich functionality while even improving the ease of use and speed of introduction. Every toolmaker can benefit from this product.'

With the new version, the company meets the toolmakers' demands in analysis and tool quoting. This automated software, that uses in-depth analyses to estimate tool cost systematically, has gained a lot of functionality. The geometrical analysis functions have been improved and the software can not only calculate tool cost, it now also estimates the different numbers of hours involved in different techniques (e.g. CAD hours, CAM hours and machining hours). In other words, it supports the quoting and the planning and enables every toolmaker to match the software perfectly to his specific business requirements. Part cost calculation is available and everything can be linked to Microsoft Excel. So Tooling Expert can even feed the Excel spreadsheets the toolmaker used before.

Customer feedback gave Materialise clear direction on which features customers would value and use most. Certainly a value-adding new feature of is the automated 'price per part' estimation. The interface has become even more user-friendly since the different parameters can be handled more easily: they have been grouped in clear and easy-to-use sections: 'Technology Manager', 'Injection Material Manager' and 'Machine Properties Manager'. This offers more flexibility and a clear overview of all possibilities.
