NEW DIMENSIONS IN SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING

Materialise invests in an EOSINT P 700 machine, a double-laser system for Selective Laser Sintering of plastics. |
This machine contributes towards Materialise's aim to offer their customers the best prototyping solutions. From now on fully functional parts can be sintered up to a size of 700x380x580mm. Due to the double-laser system the building speed is increased resulting in shorter lead times. Several parts can be built at once and further parts to be built can even be loaded during the building process. But what is most important, the EOSINT P system assures excellent part quality for small series as well as large individual products. Who could say no to this kind of system that combines the flexibility of a Rapid Technology with the automation and efficiency of mass production? Materialise attends the Materials Engineering trade show at Beursgebouw, Eindhoven. A lot of inquisitive persons passed by our booth and were enthusiastic about the vacuum cleaner component (cf. photo) built in one piece on the new EOSINT P 700. The number of layers to be built is significantly reduced as large parts can be manufactured horizontally, which considerably shortens the building process. We decided to organise a Selective Laser Sintering Competition at the Materials Engineering fair. Many visitors did not hesitate to try their luck by answering the question: 'How long did it take to create the vacuum cleaner component on our new P 700 machine?' The correct answer is 49h 34min. We are very proud to present the company 'Promea' with their answer 50h 6min 30sec as winner of this Dutch edition. Materialise now houses 4 SLS machines. Besides the new bought EOSINT P 700 machine, our SLS machine park consists of two DTM 2500 machines (parts up to 350x250x500mm) and one EOS P360 (parts up to 340x340x620mm).

About: Materialise NV
Begun as a joint venture with the University of Leuven-Belgium, Materialise was one of the first European rapid prototyping service bureaus. It has since grown into a European supplier of plastic prototype solutions, and today is a worldwide leader in the rapid prototyping industry. Materialise offers a broad range of rapid prototyping, tooling and digital CAD software. In addition, Materialise prototypes and software have established a reputation in medicine and dentistry, with clinicians the world over using them in the most complex surgical cases. Its design products division concentrates on the development of rapid manufacturing. The company is privately owned with several subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and the USA, and employs over 300 people in its 4 divisions.* Materialise Industrial Services to "materialise" technical prototypes and small series through the most advanced prototyping and tooling techniques. * Materialise Software to develop the technical software applications that allow a more efficient use of the rapid prototyping techniques. * Materialise Medical to create medical models using these prototyping techniques and to develop medical software packages that are used by clinicians worldwide to assist them in the most complex cases of surgery. * Materialise.MGX to manufacture design products for the end-user market. MGX is the youngest division and it draws on the knowledge and expertise of the prototyping division. |
