Advanced Polymer Alloys, a division of Ferro Corporation announced the release of a new Injection Molding Guide that provides injection molders and product engineers with technical tips for processing DuraGrip® TPE, the company’s newest Melt-Processible Elastomer. The new DuraGrip TPE Injection Molding Guide includes detailed information on: • Rheology • Safe material handling • Recommendations and processing parameters for optimal use on a wide variety of equipment • Mold design tips to achieve the best looking rubber parts with the fastest cycle times • Recycling DuraGrip TPE as regrind. DuraGrip TPE is a versatile thermoplastic elastomer that enhances the value of end use products through its performance characteristics and features, including, when needed, a soft-touch feel. The DuraGrip grades, available in 30 to 90 Shore A hardness, come in easily colorable natural, black, translucent, and clear. Available grades include: • The general purpose DuraGrip 6000 series which processes easily in injection molding equipment and bonds well to polypropylene and polyethylene. • The DuraGrip 6100 series bonds well to PC, ABS, PC/ABS alloys, nylon, ASA, and other engineered thermoplastic materials. • The DuraGrip 6200 series can be extruded or injection molded. It offers better rubber or elastomer performance, including coefficient of friction, than other DuraGrip products. Available in translucent and clear, the 6200 series offers a matte look where other grades are glossy. • DuraGrip 6800 series is APA’s FDA-compliant grade designed to offer very good elastomeric properties and soft-touch feel. It bonds to polypropylene and polyethylene.
