ADVANCED POLYMER ALLOYS DEBUTS DURAGRIP® TPE UV-STABLE GRADE

DuraGrip TPE is a versatile material that enhances consumer and light industrial products through its elastomeric properties and features including, when needed, a soft-touch feel. The unique UV-stable DuraGrip TPE 6100 series bonds well to engineered thermoplastic materials, including difficult-to-overmold nylon substrates, and won’t significantly fade with long-term exposure to sunlight.

Advanced Polymer Alloys will spotlight its UV-stable DuraGrip TPE 6100 series.

“Unlike many other engineering thermoplastic bondable TPE products, which can be prone to yellowing, the DuraGrip 6100 series will not darken when exposed to ultraviolet light,” said Jeff Senich, business development manager for APA. “Long-term UV light resistance is an important performance characteristic enabling this material to meet narrow color stability tolerances found in critical applications like automotive interiors, window and door seals, and even office furniture and other durable goods. The color stability of this material is a clear benefit for our customers that distinguishes DuraGrip from other bondable elastomers.”

The 6100 series is one of four lines of DuraGrip TPE available from APA. It bonds well to PC, ABS, PC/ABS alloys, nylon, ASA, and other engineered thermoplastic materials, and was designed specifically for overmolding and co-extrusion processing. The other lines include the general purpose grade DuraGrip 6000, the high-performance DuraGrip 6200 series, and the extrusion-specific DuraGrip 6300, a material designed for optimal extrusion processing performance.

As part of its NPE plans, APA will also display its line of Alcryn® Melt-Processible Rubber™, and will include end-use sample products for attendees to examine. The company will also conduct a giveaway of a handheld GPS system. The winner will be selected from qualified booth visitors who register for APA’s quarterly e-newsletter, Material Matters. The giveaway will be conducted after the show.
