RAPID PROTOTYPERS AND TOOLMAKERS GET MORE EFFECTIVE THROUGH THE NEW VERSION OF MAGICS, THE LEADING STL MANIPULATION SOFTWARE
19 June 2002 - Materialise NV

Today Materialise announced its latest software release: Magics 7.22. Again, this new version adds more power to your STL handling and manipulation, RP preparation, tool design or tool quotation process.

Among the novelties and improvements you find two completely new import modules and many enhancements to the Magics Tooling Expert module. On top of this, Materialise now also offers its Magics users a system of floating licenses.

New Pro-E and CATIA 5 import modules With the brand new import modules, Pro-E and CATIA 5 files can now also be imported in Magics. The Pro-E and CATIA 5 modules convert files in these formats to the STL format. Common-errors are automatically corrected resulting in high quality STL files.

Flexible pricing in Magics Tooling Expert
When making a tool quotation with the enhanced capabilities of the Magics Tooling Expert software (released both as stand alone - version 1.11 - and as module to Magics), the user can now achieve greater flexibility. Fried Vancraen, managing director of Materialise, comments: 'This new version exemplifies Materialise's commitment to provide our customers with the most user-friendly and productive software products. Talking to toolmakers and Magics Tooling Expert users made us aware of the need for more flexibility in the pricing step of the software. These suggestions of our customers were at the basis of the new version. Magics Tooling Expert is now really tailored to the needs of its users!'

This is a handful of the new functions in Magics Tooling Expert, the innovative tool quoting software:

Detect problem areas even faster during the draft and wall thickness analysis thanks to the possibility to visualise only the not drafted or thin areas.
Define typical technologies (e.g. aluminium tooling) used in your company, each incorporating different tool manufacturing methods. To each technology the matching set of tuning parameters and labels is linked.
Edit the labels in the pricing tabs to easily customise and define them to the specific terminology used in your company.
The latest version of Magics Tooling Expert represents a major opportunity for all toolmakers looking to automate the tool quoting process and to increase the consistency and hit rate of their quotations!

Floating licenses
Next to all these enhancements to the software, Materialise also offers a floating license system. Starting now it's possible to work in Magics on any computer in a LAN or local network with one single Magics license. This floating license enables the user to start one Magics session on the computer of his choice, the license is no longer limited to just one computer.
