Materialise is pleased to announce Next Day II, a major upgrade of the service for the on-line ordering of prototypes. A unique service, unmatched in speed and quality, which has been running since 1998 and already supplied 5000 Next Day prototypes to more than 500 customers.

Next Day II. What's new?

19 March 2001: the launch date of the new Next Day service. Next Day II stands for a new look, a new logo, new prices and especially new features in the software. Next Day-customers can from now on benefit from multiple format import (STL, IGES, DXF-3D faces, VDA, SolidWorks, MGX, Unigraphics, CATIA). The software reads the files and gives a high quality shaded image visualisation of the loaded part. As well as indicating whether the files are correct, the software now has a fixing option which corrects the data within seconds. Another new and very useful option of the Next Day II software is the possibility to get a quotation request for multiple parts at the same time. Also there is the option of 'delayed ordering'; this means that the reactivation of a quotation is possible if you do not place an order immediately.

And last but not least, the Next Day-customer can benefit from a free 30-day shareware-trial period of Magics Communicator: Materialises conferencing tool to view and discuss 3D files, with several measuring and annotating options. This offers the customers a unique and efficient way of communication with Materialise and other Communicator users.

Generating SLA prototypes by a single push of a button. How does it all work?

The Next Day service is comparable to using a network printer. The software simulates 3D-printing. Pushing a button establishes an Internet connection with the Next Day server in Belgium. The customer is assisted by a wizard, which will automatically supply a free quotation within minutes. During the quotation stage, confidentiality is guaranteed as no geometrical data is exchanged with the server. The order is placed with the encrypted transfer of the STL file to the server.

In doing this, customers at their local site put their STL files in a queue on the Materialise server located in Belgium. If the order is placed before 12h00 CET, the SLA models are built and shipped the same day. They are delivered the following working day to the client's location. Materialise guarantees speedy delivery all across Europe.

Materialise Next Day models are intended for design verification in the early development stage, not only for aesthetic and communication purposes, but also for 'fit and function testing'. The ability to build multiple parts simultaneously can be a real money-saver for the customer.
