Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of eight new series of infrared receiver modules in a new Minicast package type, featuring high immunity against EMI and a high-precision band filter. The new devices are designed as drop-in replacements for standard small-size modules in remote control applications for consumer electronics, computer, air conditioning, game console, and industrial systems. Optimized for efficient manufacturing without sacrificing quality and robustness, the new package type provides improved filtering of noise signals, from sources such as fluorescent lighting, for optimal noise immunity. Vishay’s patented internal metal shield technique maintains high immunity against EMI. Each Minicast device includes a photo detector and preamplifier circuit, mounted within a 3-pin epoxy-encapsulated module with an integrated semi-cylindrical lens. The new devices are available in 3-V and 5-V versions using carrier frequencies from 30 kHz to 56 kHz. As the leading provider of IR receiver module solutions, Vishay offers several AGC-parameterized versions of its Minicast modules to provide optimal performance for any code type in any optical environment. Samples and production quantities of all Minicast IR receiver modules are available now, with lead times of four weeks for large orders.
