NEW DOW CORNING BRAND RESIN IMPROVES FLEXIBILITY OF EPOXY COATINGS

Dow Corning has introduced a new amine-functional siloxane resin, Dow Corning 3052 Intermediate Resin, designed to improve the flexibility of epoxy resin-based industrial maintenance coatings without compromising recoatability.

According to Dow Corning Coatings Industry Specialist Gerald Witucki, “Epoxy coatings are known for their excellent corrosion and chemical resistance. But they are limited by poor flexibility. Previous silicon-based solutions improved flexibility, but created recoatability problems. New Dow Corning 3052 Intermediate Resin fills the gap.”

The new organofunctional siloxane resin crosslinks with the epoxy, creating a flexible coating with excellent recoat performance. It has minimal impact on epoxy coating’s hardness or chemical resistance. It also has the potential to improve UV resistance.
