19 FOOD-GRADE INDUSTRIAL LUBRICATION FLUIDS, OILS FROM DOW CORNING OFFER EXCEPTIONAL PURITY, LUBRICATION
29 April 2007 - Dow Corning - EEI
| For those in the food industry who must keep the wheels turning, Dow Corning offers an array of 19 food-grade synthetic lubricating fluids and ultra high-purity mineral oils marketed under the Molykote brand name. |
The product line includes food-grade hydraulic fluids; oils for compressors, vacuum pumps, gearboxes, and chains; as well as multipurpose oils for a wide variety of machinery and components. Dow Corning lubricating fluids can last up to ten times longer than conventional products and are part of the products and services that make up the company’s Molykote Lubrication Management Program. The food-grade Molykote oils conform to requirements under H-1 designations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for incidental food contact, and have Ag Canada approval. Many are also kosher approved. These H1 products are particularly suited for plant operations in the food and beverage industry due to their resistance to washout and emulsification with water, which causes viscosity degradation that contributes to mechanical wear and premature loss of machine usefulness. In addition, to meet the dramatic temperature extremes in the food industry from freezers to ovens, the H1 oils have operating temperature ranges from -60°C to 150°C (-76°F to 302°F). Many other oils in the Molykote line conform to USDA H-2 requirements for non-food contact applications. The temperature capabilities of these H2 oils range from –60°C to 250°C (-76°F to 482°F). Proprietary high-technology additives used in these H1 and H2 products provide improved resistance to oxidation, which extends oil life by preventing pre-mature breakdown. The full line of Molykote products includes both mineral oil and synthetic food-grade greases that meet FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 requirements for grease for use where incidental food contact may occur. These greases provide good load-carrying capacity, resistance to water washout, and are typically used in bearing and gear applications. The line also includes H2 greases, pastes, compounds, anti-friction coatings and dispersions that together comprise a lubricant product line with operating temperature capabilities from –226°C to 1400°C (-375°F to 2550°F). Lubrication Solutions for Virtually Every Plant Lubrication Need In addition to their use in the food and beverage industry, the full line of Molykote fluids and lubricants is used in chemical/petrochemical, automotive manufacturing, power generation, and the pulp and paper industries, as well as in a wide variety of maintenance and repair operations in general business and industrial facilities.
