PERFECT PRESERVATION OF LANCÔME’S MASCARA AMPLICILS THANKS TO THE BARRIER PROPERTIES OF SELAR® PA
31 October 2003 - DuPont Engineering Polymers

Lancôme’s waterproof mascara tube Amplicils has a deep black colour and is very shiny. This look is achieved thanks to DuPont™ Selar® PA amorphous polyamide resin, which provides durable protection for the cosmetic content.

Thanks to its transparency, the resin gives greater depth to the tube colour and enhances the overall elegance of the product.

But the reasons that led Lancôme and the plastic converter, Risdon AMS, to opt for Selar® PA go much further than just aesthetic considerations. Lancôme wanted to find a material compatible with the waterproof formulation of the mascara as well as with the technical specifications for the tube. Cosmetic companies and moulders have turned to chlorine and halogen free solutions, and have found that Selar® PA, DuPont’s amorphous polyamide is the right substitute material.

Risdon AMS has reconciled all these factors and produces this aesthetically attractive tube using the injection blow molding process specifically adapted to mass production of parts with tight dimensional tolerances.
