MK V CONTROL UPGRADE MAKES ADDISON-MCKEE THE ONLY CHOICE
03 July 2002 - Addison McKee
| Addison-McKee, the acknowledged world leader in tube and pipe technology for the car and truck exhaust pipe manufacturing industry has introduced a new state-of-the-art Control System upgrade that combines outstanding features with highly advanced user benefits. |
With all the reliability, service and support of the Addison McKee name behind it, the brand new MK V Control System combines powerful technology with a vast range of intelligent features. The system is simple to programme for any tube development application and – via a unique “teach mode” facility – can “learn” individual manufacturer configurations. Modular construction Designed for simple integration into an existing manufacturing line, disruption to productivity is minimised. At the same time, high-definition 3-D graphics, integrated user touch screen, 3-D modelling and time-saving diagnostics provide market leading quality, flexibility and value for money. Teach mode Unique to all MK V models is the Addison-McKee teach mode, an advanced facility that allows users to literally “teach” the controller their own particular settings. Each sequence is then memorised and run automatically on request. As they are remembered against part numbers, different shapes can have different sequences. Enhanced graphics The MK V Control System is also exceptionally easy to operate. The well-proven software utilises high quality, high definition 3-D graphics, while the integrated touch-screen programme input facility operation is simple to use and minimises the chance of human error. Integrated 3-D modelling Via fully integrated 3-D modelling, both operators and development engineers can create a virtual sequence prior to physically bending a tube. The view can be resized and rotated to achieve the required perspective, whilst tooling views can also be added to show basic collision points. Robust hardware The MK V offers a wholly reliable, state-of-the-art platform for the most demanding machine tool control applications. Based around the latest F145 SIEMENS computer hardware and complete with integral touch screen, standard computer network port and integral modem, it is future proof and readily available “off the shelf”. Industry standard protocol Using industry standard communication protocols, the MK V Control System can be connected to an Addata+ measuring machine via the CAT5 network. Alternatively, it can be linked to a server providing centralised part programme back up. The use of industry standard hardware also means that expensive bespoke communication nodes can be replaced with readily available standard network interface cards. Fully remote diagnostics Standard to all MK V models, a remote diagnostics system ensures that should assistance be needed with a fault diagnosis – or when future software upgrades are required - the Addison-McKee technical department can link directly with the customer’s machine. With no need for a personnel visit to site, operating costs are reduced and down time is minimised. In keeping with all Addison-McKee machines, the latest MK V Control System is supported by a fast response, round-the-clock parts service and on-site assistance service manned by a large team of skilled service engineers. With over 3,000 machines installed worldwide, the company enjoys a global reputation for innovative solutions linked to a firm commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of its customers.
