The new 52,000-square-foot facility at 46555 Magellan Drive houses engineering, sales and administrative personnel formerly located in Farmington Hills, Mich. Beginning next spring, Alcan plans to manufacture advanced aluminum bumpers and other structural components for the company’s automotive customers in North America. Louis Csordas, Novi’s newly elected mayor, and Dale F. Ewing, newly appointed general manager, Alcan Automotive Structures North America, helped raised Alcan’s corporate logo onto the front of the new facility. 'We welcome Alcan to Novi and look forward to the jobs and revenue that world-class companies like Alcan bring to our city,” Csordas said. “This is a great day for the city of Novi as well as a great day for Alcan and its customers.' In addition to the Novi facility, Ewing will responsible for a new plant for manufacturing aluminum automotive structural assemblies under construction in the Saguenay region of Quebec, Canada. Both plants are scheduled to begin production in 2004. “Our objective is to build on our leading position in the supply of lightweight solutions for automotive customers in North America by expanding our product range,” Ewing said. Other Alcan officials taking part in the sign-raising program included Alcan Automotive vice presidents Michael P. Kelly and Werner Steltzer, as well as Thomas P.
