KURT WOLFENSBERGER NEW PRESIDENT OF ALCAN AUTOMOTIVE
04 October 2001 - Alcan Automotive

Kurt Wolfensberger has been appointed the new President of Alcan Automotive. In his new function, Wolfensberger will run the automobile business in addition to his current role as European President of Engineered Products.

He will also coordinate the implementation of the Group's global automobile strategy. Alcan Automotive is the leading supplier of lightweight components and solutions to the automotive industry.

After completing his commercial diploma and stint in banking and insurance in 1966,
Kurt Wolfensberger began working for the organisation at the Sydney-based company Nabalco Pty., an Australian subsidiary of the Alusuisse-Lonza Group. Since this time he has occupied a number of positions within Alusuisse in Australia and in Europe. In 1995 he was appointed head of the Group's aluminium division, a task he performed until the Swiss Alusuisse Group merged with the Canadian Alcan Group in October 2000.

”Assuming the responsibility for running the automotive business during the future realignment of Alcan Automotive is a special challenge”, said Kurt Wolfensberger. ”I am convinced that the new strategy, which focuses on global growth through higher added value, will give us a permanent competitive advantage.”
