RANGE OF PRECISION ENGINEERED SAMPLE GRIPS AND FIXTURES OFFERED BY LLOYD INSTRUMENTS
07 July 2007 - Lloyd Instruments
| Lloyd Instruments, materials testing specialist, can offer a range of precision engineered sample grips and fixtures to test wires, chains, cables, fibre optic cables and metals at low or high force using the company's universal materials testing instruments. |
The company provides testing solutions to measure the physical properties of wires, ranging from microscopic filaments to high force specimens up to 300 kN (67442 lbf). Tests include tensile strength of wire itself and the ultimate strength of wire/terminal connections. The company has also developed a special fixture to carry out tensile strength tests of plastic coated copper wires whilst simultaneously checking conductivity. The crush strength of multicore cable can be measured by performing a compression test and the electrical failure condition can be reported using a special cable connection box which has been developed for use with a Lloyd Instruments EZ or Plus Series materials testing machine. The strength of fibre optic cables can be tested by performing a tensile test using a dedicated fibre optic jig and the results can be displayed as a Weibull plot using Excel. The grips and fixtures are precision engineered to operate with Lloyd Instruments universal testing machines and CHATILLON force gauges and test stands. All fixtures are quick and easy to install. Different adapters are available to fit any testing scenario. Furthermore, company engineers are able to discuss more particular requirements with customers if a tailor-made solution is required. Full details on Lloyd Instruments' grips and fixtures for wires and cables can be found in the Grips & Fixtures Catalogue. This is available worldwide from the company's US, UK, Far East, French and German operations or can be ordered by e-mail at: uk-far.general@ametek.co.uk or online at www.lloyd-instruments.co.uk Editor's Notes: Lloyd Instruments is a unit of AMETEK Test & Calibration Instruments, a division of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annual sales of more than $1 billion.
