RAD HELPS YIPES SPEED UP GROWTH BY EXTENDING ETHERNET OVER LEGACY
12 June 2007 - RAD Data Communications Ltd

RAD Data Communications, a world leader in Carrier Ethernet access solutions and Yipes Enterprise Services Inc., the leading global provider of managed, end-to-end Ethernet solutions for enterprise customers are working together to extend Yipes Ethernet services across leased DS-3 and OC-3 facilities.

Yipes operates a global native Ethernet network that leverages 14,000 route-miles of fiber infrastructure. In order to reach off-net customer locations, Yipes extends its core fiber-based Ethernet service over leased SONET facilities. By mapping the Yipes service over DS-3, OC-3 and in the future OC-12, their service can reach all customers, even when the customers are beyond the reach of the Yipes fiber-based core network.

Yipes cited its ability to extend services across legacy infrastructure as an important advantage in building on its recent growth. For the first half of 2006, Yipes posted the best revenues in its history growing its core services 51% over the previous year.

An Intelligent Bridge between Ethernet and TDMRAD's RIC family of intelligent converters is used to bridge between the Yipes Ethernet network and the leased TDM lines. 'RAD's RIC products provide a reliable and cost effective means for extending our Ethernet service over leased lines in service areas beyond the reach of our network,' said Kamran Sistanizadeh, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Yipes. 'We are continually working to expand our network and add POPs in strategic locations. At the same time, RAD’s technology also allows us to meet the rapidly increasing demand for managed Ethernet services through leased-line connectivity.'

RAD's RIC family of intelligent converters enables service providers to extend their Ethernet footprint by delivering transparent wire-speed Ethernet services over DS-3 or OC-3/STM-1 lines. They provide simple, efficient and cost-effective bridging of Ethernet with support for Q-in-Q VLAN tagging, QoS prioritization, simple set-up and a full range of management capabilities and diagnostics. RAD is also currently testing a version for transport of Ethernet over OC-12 facilities.
