PARC MUSICAL ALCAN UNVEILS MUSICAL CHARACTERS AT FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTRÉAL
Alcan Inc., co-presenter of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, announced today that four new interactive and educational characters will be welcoming visitors to the Parc Musical Alcan, located on the outdoor site of the Festival. The character’s costumes were inspired by traditional brass band musicians, with each costume fashioned into a different musical instrument: xylophone, percussion, trumpet/horns and guitar. “Alcan is pleased to bring an additional element of novelty, fun, education, and interaction to this year’s Parc Musical Alcan, and hope that the new characters will become a staple of the Festival for years to come,” said Cynthia Carroll, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alcan Primary Metal Group. “Alcan’s sponsorship of the Festival is a clear demonstration of the Company’s commitment to the on-going economic and cultural vitality of our Montreal home,” she added. Designed to be lightweight and versatile, the accessories worn by the characters, who are 4 to 6 feet in diameter, are mainly constructed of aluminum. Suggested by the Festival, this original idea highlights the design talent of local craftsman André L'Heureux and his team. “I’m thrilled by the Festival’s innovative idea,” said Alain Simard, Festival president. “Thanks to Alcan’s sponsorship, the Festival will present a new and original activity that is both educational and fun for our youngest festival goers,” he added.
