NEW AUTOFORM PM LINE OF POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE FILMS
10 August 2007 - Autotype International

The new AutoForm PM line of polymethyl methacrylate films brings enhanced pencil hardness to the AUTOFLEX IMD product range. These innovative films are designed to allow shallow formability by thermoforming or pressure forming while retaining all their abrasion resistant properties.

The new AutoForm PM line of polymethyl methacrylate films brings enhanced pencil hardness to the AUTOFLEX IMD product range. These innovative films are designed to allow shallow formability by thermoforming or pressure forming while retaining all their abrasion resistant properties.

Compared with conventional hard-coated polycarbonates, AutoForm PM provides superior surface abrasion resistance, with the bulk hardness of the PMMA film improving pencil hardness. In addition, the new films are highly resistant to yellowing in sunlight, offer high transparency and are scuff, scratch, gouge and chemical-resistant.

This combination of toughness, durability, transparency and resistance to yellowing ensures that AutoForm PM films are particularly suitable for applications such as mobile phone and pager lenses as well as body parts and home appliance fascias/white goods. Other applications include electronic fascias and heater controls for the automotive industry.

AutoForm PM films are available in thicknesses of 180µ and 250µ and in gloss and antiglare finishes. Like all AUTOFLEX IMD films, AutoForm PM can be printed on the reverse, formed and trimmed to the shape required, and then injection molded on the reverse to give increased rigidity.

Richard Townsend, Product Manager IMD at Autotype, said: "This is the latest in a series of new product developments that Autotype will be bringing to the IMD market over the next six months. Our aim is to provide a truly comprehensive range of products for the market, combining innovation with Autotype’s world renowned quality assurance."
