As a Responsible Care company, Ashland employs the RCMS to drive environmental, health, safety and security performance. The system provides a structured framework to help assess risks and hazards, set specific performance goals and share progress with the public. Adherence to the system's security code is intended to protect people, property, products, processes, information and information systems. A key component of the management system is mandatory certification by independent, accredited auditing firms. According to Kearny plant manager John Orlowski, 'Efforts to achieve RC14001 certification provided the opportunity to look for areas of potential risk and apply good management practices to ensure environmental stewardship and the safety and security of our facility. Passing a third-party audit demonstrates our commitment to safety and our ability to operate our facility in a secure manner.'
