ASHLAND UPDATES FORMULA TO COMPLY WITH NEW EU LAW

| Drew Marine, a business group within Ashland Specialty Chemical, a division of Ashland Inc., announces its compliance with Directive 2003/53/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of June 18, 2003. |
This new amendment relates to restrictions on the production, marketing and use of certain substances classified as hazardous, such as nonylphenol and nonylphenol ethoxylate. Drew Marine is pleased to inform its customers that all formulas have been updated to abide by this new EU requirement. Drew Marine products containing these ingredients have been reformulated to meet this new requirement that goes into effect January 17, 2005.
