GE INSURANCE SOLUTIONS TO OFFER INSURANCE CREDIT TO LAW FIRMS WITH LEGAL ADMINISTRATORS

GE Insurance Solutions will allow as much as a 7.5 percent credit based on a three-step analysis:

-- 2.5 percent credit if a law firm has a legal administrator with full management/administration duties
-- An additional 2.5 percent credit if the administrator is a member of an association such as the Association of Legal Administrators
-- An additional 2.5 percent credit if the member administrator holds a certification such as the Certified Legal Manager certification.

ALA's Program is the only certification program in the legal management profession. Through a comprehensive examination process, the voluntary program identifies and tests to determine if a legal administrator has a command of the core areas of knowledge for effective job performance.

"The law firm that has an administrator who is also an ALA member is a better risk for us," said Kim Pihlstrom, J.D., vice president, GE Insurance Solutions, Professional Liability. "It gives us greater confidence to know these legal administrators have met the rigorous requirements of the ALA through the ALA's training and that they have access to the organization's law management tools."

These credits will be available in more than 30 states where GE Insurance Solutions writes Lawyers Professional Liability insurance.

"Law firms can realize tremendous cost-savings just due to the fact they have an administrator that meets certain qualifications."
