STOTZ PROMOTED TO EUROPE; ROSKOTT NAMED TO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT POSITION
17 September 2004 - Ashland Inc

John Stotz, brand manager for Valvoline's MaxLife, has been promoted to director of marketing for Valvoline Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), according to Craig Moughler, senior VP and managing director, Valvoline International, Inc.

'We are extremely pleased to have John on board,' says Moughler. 'We believe he is the perfect fit for this position, especially as we look to continue the phenomenal growth of MaxLife Service Centers in Europe. We look forward as well to seeing global brand equity in MaxLife increased, particularly throughout the EMEA region.

Rolf Linder, VP, brand marketing for Valvoline, said, 'John has really earned this new assignment based on his track record here in the U.S. He has contributed to the superlative growth trend of the MaxLife business from just over $30 million gross sales in 2001 to a projected $90 million in fiscal 2004 across U.S. channels. He has also led the introduction of several new products including MaxLife Synthetic and MaxLife Oil Filters, and has developed new and innovative ways to reach customers and consumers.'

Stotz will report to John Noal, VP and general manager, Valvoline EMEA.

In a related move, Moughler has announced that John Roskott, marketing director for Valvoline EMEA, has been named director of business development, EMEA.

In this position, Roskott will responsible for building topline growth for EMEA. 'John will work to take ideas that have worked in the U.S. and elsewhere, and adapt them to the EMEA market. Because of his broad, extensive experience in the European market, he is uniquely qualified for this challenge,' says Noal. 'We know that growth is dependent upon innovation, and our focus will be on new products and services, introduction of existing global products and services in Europe, and building channels.'

Roskott will continue report to Noal.

'Our EMEA business has become a predictable contributor by developing market-based strategies in their core business, and executing them well. These moves will allow us to continue to strengthen the core, while at the same time pushing for topline growth,' said Moughler.
