GE INFRASTRUCTURE BRINGS KEY PROTECTION AND PRODUCTIVITY TECHNOLOGIES TO CHINA

GE Infrastructure, one of the newest growth engines of the General Electric company, announced today the introduction of four new technology solutions to the Chinese marketplace: Merlin, a home water filtration system; GE and China Telecom have initiated discussions to explore establishing a strategic partnership for advanced home security and service systems; UltraTemp, a family of medical patient temperature probes; and Proficy, a suite of automation software that helps maximize manufacturing operations.

These four solutions, which provide protection and productivity solutions ranging from the home to industrial and medical sectors, were introduced as part of GE Infrastructure's "Futurescape of Technology. "

Four New Infrastructure Technologies Launched. Four new Infrastructure technologies were launched today as part of the Futurescape event:

-- Merlin: The world's first, continuous flow, reverse osmosis, water filtration system designed for the home. The Merlin fits under most kitchen sinks and reduces up to 95% of water contaminants found in traditional water supplies around the world.
-- China Telecom: GE and China Telecom jointly announced today that they have started negotiations to establish a strategic partnership in the field of communication services, product supply and resources utilization. The combination of GE's advanced home security and service systems and China Telecom's communications technology, will create a new generation of technology that will allow residents of China to communicate with their homes through the Internet and mobile phones.
-- UltraTemp: Monitoring core body temperature accurately and reliably is critical to determining a patient's well being. The new UltraTemp Series of temperature probes are designed with high quality ceramics with advanced material processes, enabling the GE probe product family to meet the stringent demands of the global medical marketplace.
-- Proficy: Proficy solutions provide a full range of integrated, easy-to-use software applications and services which control and optimize industrial processes, gathering, analyzing and transforming data into information that allows users to operate in real time,helping to ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently and with greater return on investment.
