18 June 2004 - Ashland Inc
| Lester D. Fry has been promoted to vice president of business planning and development for Valvoline Instant Oil Change (VIOC), the nation's second-largest quick lube chain, according to John Q. Wesley, president. |
In his new role, Fry will be responsible for acquisitions, development, construction, real estate, as well as the fleet sales group. He will report to Wesley. 'A best-in-class acquisition process, backed by superior development and construction systems, is critical to VIOC's accelerated growth, as is building our fleet customer base,' Wesley said. 'These are vital strategies in our evolution from 'an oil change place' to the premier automotive preventive maintenance service provider in the country. I am very excited to have Les join VIOC's senior leadership team. We are the beneficiary of his extensive experience within the full range of Valvoline's installed businesses, along with his exceptional leadership skills, chief among them his strength in building teams and developing markets.' Fry joined the VIOC team last fall as region manager in Minneapolis. Prior to that, he was director of installed sales and training and previously held management positions in Express Care and distributor sales, as well as VIOC franchise sales and development. He joined the company in April, 1995, and holds a BA from the University of Kentucky. He is a graduate of Ashland's Executive Development Program at Indiana University.
