VERNON TO DRIVE EXPANSION INTO EMERGING MARKETS

Ashland Casting Solutions announced that Philip Vernon has been named to the role of Commercial Director - Emerging Markets. In this new role, Vernon is charged with expanding Ashland's business into the developing metal casting markets of India, South Africa, Russia and the Ukraine.

'Phil's understanding of the casting marketplace and 20 years of experience with Casting Solutions will be the keys to ensuring that Casting Solutions offers consistent and comprehensive products and services to our customers - wherever they operate,' said Mike Swartzlander, vice president, Ashland Specialty Chemical, and general manager, Casting Solutions.

Vernon joined Ashland in 1983 as technical manager, Ashland Chemical Ltd. in Kidderminster, England. Since then he has served in numerous technical, sales and management roles for the company, most recently as general manager, Ashland Foundry Products Division of Ashland UK Limited. Vernon played significant roles in the acquisition of Umenco Foundry Products in 1987 and was a founding member of Ashland's European Shared Services Center. Prior to Ashland he worked as a foundry product development chemist at Harmark Litex and as chief chemist at Croda International.

Vernon holds a Royal Society of Chemistry accredited degree from De Montfort University, Leicester, England, and participated in Ashland Inc.'s marketing program at Indiana University. Additionally, he is a Chartered Chemist (CChem), member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and a member of the Institute of Cast Metal Engineers (MICME).
