ASHLAND DISTRIBUTION COMPANY TO TARGET WIRE AND CABLE INDUSTRY NAMED DISTRIBUTOR OF EQUISTAR POLYETHYLENE PRODUCTS IN THE US AND CANADA

| Ashland Distribution Company (ADC) announced today an agreement with Equistar Chemicals, LP to distribute Equistar's full line of polyethylene products to the wire and cable industry in North America. Houston, Texas-based Equistar is one of the largest producers of polyethylene wire and cable resins and compounds in the world today.

ADC's Blowmolding, Rotational molding and Extrusion (BRE) plastics group will manage the new product line, with specialized technical representatives and dedicated sales representatives located throughout the United States and Canada. These dedicated sales representatives will be the core group that supports ADC's sales force throughout the US and Canada. 'This latest extension of the Ashland/General Polymers partnership with Equistar will definitely help to solidify our position as a key supplier to the wire and cable industry,' said Michael Wilson, BRE marketing manager, ADC. 'We believe that as the largest national distributor with a group of both sellers and technical support people focused specifically on this market, we are uniquely positioned to deliver both best-in-class products and service. In addition ADC is positioned to meet our customers entire plastic needs by having the ability to offer a full product mix. Ashland will supply Equistar resins and compounds for automotive/appliance, fiber optic/coaxial, premise wiring, power cable, and telecommunications/copper applications.
