ASHLAND INC. CONSOLIDATES OFFICE AND BUILDING SERVICE FUNCTIONS
05 November 2002 - Ashland Inc

Ashland Inc. announced today that it is consolidating all facility management functions in Ashland, Ky., Dublin, Ohio, Lexington, Ky., and Covington, Ky., reporting to Edward R. Scott, director of security and facility management. Previously, the office and building services functions were decentralized.

Current facility managers and building staffs will continue to be based at their home campuses. The consolidation will be coordinated by Dublin, Ohio, facility manager, Michael J. Cornett, and Lexington, Ky., facility manager Donald C. Clarke.

Ashland Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer, James J. O’Brien said that this announcement follows the pattern of recent announcements to create a more seamless and effective organization. “The consolidation of facility management functions with our security organization will create a more efficient operation,” O’Brien said.

Scott is responsible for Ashland’s asset protection program, which includes 1-800-Ashland, the company’s 24-hour emergency notification system. He joined Ashland in 1976 in New Jersey, and has served as the company security director since 1988. Scott is a graduate of Rutgers University and the executive development program at Indiana University. He will continue to report to Richard P. Thomas, Ashland Inc. vice president and corporate secretary.
