ASHLAND INC. NAMES THREE MANAGERS FOR BUSINESS PROCESS REDESIGN

Carol A. Christobek, Rudolph J. 'Rudy' McCue, and Pamela R. Yost have been named process development managers by Rick E. Music, Ashland Inc. vice president, business process redesign. The changes will be effective immediately.

'In their new roles, Carol, Rudy and Pam will support our business unit and resource groups' objectives to improve their effectiveness and achieve the goals announced by Ashland Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Jim O'Brien in the past week,' said Music. 'Working with our individual business units and resource groups, we will assist in training, coordination, facilitating and monitoring the process centering effort.

'With this effort, we will be working hand-in-hand with the businesses to redesign processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, improve customer service, and, in the long run, improve profitability,' Music said. 'This is our core team, a small center of competency for process redesign, and I am very pleased to have them working on this important effort.'

Christobek joined Ashland in 1998 as the director of quality in the Ashland Chemical group in Dublin, Ohio. In November, 1999, she was appointed the FOReSIGHT project manager for the SAP implementation within the Ashland Distribution Company. Since April, 2002, she has served as a key participant in transition teams to improve processes and systems within Ashland Distribution.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Christobek earned a bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and a master of engineering degree from Lehigh University. She will continued to be based in Dublin, Ohio.

McCue is a 28-year veteran of the company, serving in positions related to accounting, financial control, and computer applied systems. He served as the controller for Ashland's SuperAmerica division from 1989 to 1998, and a project leader in the Ashland Inc. finance and information services group since 1998. A native of Chester, Pa., McCue received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Widener University and an MBA from Morehead State University. A certified public accountant, McCue is also a certified information technology professional. He will continue to be based in Lexington, Ky.

Yost joined Ashland's Valvoline unit in their human resources group in Feb. 1997 as a specialist in training and organizational development. She was promoted to the leadership training unit of Valvoline in 1998, and project manager of organizational and individual development in October 1999. Yost is a graduate of Shepherd College with a bachelor of science degree in political science and history. She earned a master's degree in management from Frostburg State University. Yost is a native of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She will continue to be based in Lexington, Ky.
