AUTOTYPE EXPANDS HP INDIGO® DIGITAL PRINT CAPABILITY WITH LAUNCH OF NEW FILMS
07 February 2005 - Autotype International
| Autotype, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance films and specialist chemicals for the printing industry, has launched Autotex DP, a new range of its proven Autotex polyester films. |
Available in velvet and fine textured finishes, the new films have been developed specifically for use with the latest HP Indigo® digital presses. These printers can be used as a cost effective and high quality alternative to conventional printing processes for a wide range of products, such as displays, labels, flat membrane keyboard overlays and prototypes. The new films can be used with both HP Indigo® offset sheet and web fed presses and incorporate a specially formulated primer layer to ensure fast drying at high speeds, with good colour saturation and definition from the oil based inks used in the Indigo® process. Autotex DP films incorporate Autotype’s unique, chemically bonded hardcoat surface, giving them excellent mechanical and physical properties, with high resistance to surface abrasion and scratches, as well as solvents and chemicals. Autotex DP films are ideal for use in both prototype and production versions of flat membrane overlays and fascias. In addition, Autotex DP films have a high flex modulus, giving them a switch life in excess of five million cycles, offer excellent chemical resistance and can be easily embossed. Autotype believes that the new Autotex films offer considerable potential for commercial and industrial printers alike. As Industrial Product Manager, Emma Scowen, explains, “These new films mean that graphic printing onto hardcoated polyester films can now be produced cost effectively and at high standards of quality using HP Indigo® machines. This gives both printers and their customers the combined benefits of digital print and Autotype hardcoat film technology”.
