COOKING QUALITY AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON WITH AUTOTYPE
02 September 2004 - Autotype International
| The most up-to-date screen printable, textured polyester films from Autotype are being used by leading catering equipment manufacturer RATIONAL for its latest SelfCooking Center®. |
This remarkable device has been designed to address the needs of professional caterers, offering a range of functions from a single piece of equipment including baking, frying, grilling, steaming, stewing, blanching and poaching. RATIONAL prides itself on its innovate approach to the production of its appliances right down to the finest details. This is borne out by the worldwide market share of RATIONAL which is approximately 49%, meaning that almost every second piece of catering equipment sold is a RATIONAL product. The film that is used to cover the command circuit board and touch screen for the new SelfCooking Center® has to withstand a million operations, be resistant to household cleaners and survive temperatures of up to 140 °C. To meet these requirements, RATIONAL worked closely with the screen printing company Siebdruck Roos in Augsburg in the design and production of the front panel films. 'We know that our customers choose us because we meet the highest quality demands in the production of front panel films', states Christian Roos, the company’s Technical Manager. 'We have, therefore, chosen the high performance Autotex F200 from Autotype for the front panel film of the RATIONAL SelfCooking Center®.' In particular, Autotex is a polyester film with a flexible, chemically bound, UV-cured structured coating. The Autotex F200 has a specialist ink primer on its second surface designed to provide ink receptivity to a wide range of graphic screen printing inks. Autotype and Siebdruck Roos have worked together for more than 20 years in product development and evaluation. For RATIONAL, Siebdruck Roos produces 35,000 front panel films annually in the 250 x 600 mm format, for which typically 8 to 16 ink runs are needed for printing. 'It is not only the attractive appearance of the Autotex film that is appreciated by RATIONAL' as Christian Roos explains, 'but the fact that the film is capable of withstanding temperatures from -40°C up to +140°C and offers a number of other advantages such as resistance to environmental influences, good printability, exceptional scratch and wear resistance, dimensional stability and an even textured structure, together with absence of colour fading.' Siebdruck Roos celebrated its 25th anniversary recently and attributes its success to its continual drive to achieve consistent quality. The ISO 9001 certified company is capable of processing formats up to 900 x 550 mm at its modern production facilities which are equipped with computer-controlled screen printing lines with short production and delivery times. Christian Roos concludes: 'We have developed an excellent business relationship with Autotype over the last 20 years, with Autotex being a valuable product that has helped us achieve our business aims.'
