REVOLUTIONARY KALWALL PLUS SKYLIGHTS COMBINE OUTSTANDING LIGHT TRANSMISSION AND INSULATION
09 March 2004 - Cabot Corporation

Kalwall has launched new revolutionary new skylights with Cabot’s proprietary Nanogel translucent aerogel. Kalwall Plus skylights offer similar insulation performance as solid roofing but with the added benefit of diffused natural daylight.

The introduction of Nanogel aerogel into the standard Kalwall system means that it can provide as much energy savings as a solid roof and allows daylight into areas where glazing may not otherwise be used.

With an achievable ‘U’ value of 0.29 W/m2K, Kalwall Plus is four times better than insulating glass units. And, unlike glass, Kalwall Plus skylights with Nanogel aerogel eliminate shadows, glare and hot spots, while radically reducing maintenance time and cost.

The UK’s first Kalwall Plus skylight with Nanogel aerogel project is a domestic skylight application in London. The product was sourced through the internet by a customer seeking a larger area of skylighting than possible using other alternatives now available in the marketplace, under existing energy-saving regulations.

Kalwall Plus skylights with Nanogel are available in 70mm thick panels in standard units ranging from 1220 wide x 1830 to 3660mm in length. Units are available from Stoakes Systems Ltd, UK (Tel: +44 208 660 7667) www.stoakes.co.uk or from Kalwall in the USA.
