NEW ISO QUALITY APPROVAL FOR AUTOTYPE
The new international ISO 9001:2000 standard covers all aspects of Autotype International’s management, development, production and customer support processes. The company’s Head of Regulatory Affairs, Sem Seaborne, explains that, 'Our certification to the new standard clearly underlines our long term commitment both to achieving the highest possible levels of quality, throughout our business, and to delivering exceptional customer support'. Autotype has operated a certified Quality Assurance Management System since 1988 when the old British Standard BS5750 was applicable. Certification to ISO 9001 followed and was updated as the standard was upgraded. Autotype International was the first company in its field to have such a comprehensive Quality Management System and has been steadily working towards accreditation for the new standard since it was announced in 2000. By comparison with the old standard, ISO 9001:2000 is more rigorous and focused on core business issues, including top management commitment, the process approach within the organisation and continual improvement, together with enhancing satisfaction for customers. Sem Seaborne adds, 'Being recognised to the new standard is a tremendous achievement for the company and underlines the commitment by all members of staff to quality and management control, and the dedication and professionalism of the team directly involved in the project to win certification to ISO 9001:2000'. Autotype International also operates a certificated Environmental Management System in Wantage, to the international standard BS EN ISO 14001, which is unique in never having encountered a third party non conformity.
