AUTOTEX FROM AUTOTYPE FOR MODERN ORDERING SYSTEMS
12 August 2003 - Autotype International

Hoffmann + Krippner in Buchen, Germany, manufacture state-of-the-art products that are smart, compact, efficient, reliable and user-friendly. The proven strength of this company located in Baden-Wrttemberg is its ability to pinpoint solutions.

Siegfried Tubel, Managing Director of Hoffman + Krippner GmbH, explains: 'We develop ideas for tomorrow's products products that meet the highest demands and requirements. Particularly in the field of membrane touch switch (MTS) keypads, there are virtually no limits to the applications, shape, design and specific properties of our products. Special requirements call for special solutions. To achieve these goals, we also need a strong partner.' Siegfried Tubel goes on to say: 'Our highly qualified employees know that we make no compromises when it comes to quality. That is why we have decided to use Autotex film from Autotype for the development of a modern ordering system designed for use in multiplex cinemas.

This system consists of keypads backlit by means of electroluminescence (EL) technology, which ensure that cinema-goers can easily locate the necessary keys for ordering drinks even in the dark. They do so by keying in a number and then pressing 'Enter'. The data is passed on to the restaurant and drinks are served either during the break or brought straight to the customer's seat. Three multiplex cinemas seating 500 persons each in the Ruhr area and in North Rhine-Westphalia have so far been equipped with an ordering system of this type. The system can cater to 1,500 persons, and one keypad is provided per three to four people.

Autotex is a high-quality textured polyester film that offers excellent resistance to mechanical stress and a scratch-resistant surface capable of withstanding household and chemical cleaning agents in compliance with a DIN standard.

Last but not least, the attractive finish is particularly appreciated by customers. The underside is coated with a primer that ensures adhesion with a wide range of graphic inks. Moreover, this decorative film withstands temperatures of 40C to + 80C A further important point that convinced us to employ Autotex' says Siegfried Tubel. 'We screen print the reverse of the Autotex film in such a way that the surface is transparent in those places where the display elements need to be easily legible, and the electroluminescent display is fully effective,' explains Siegfried Tubel.

EL units are basically luminous fields that are manufactured for various fields of application by different methods, such as screen-printing.

Hoffmann + Krippner was established over 30 years ago as a technical screen-printing company. Today it employs over 100 people. The manufacture of MTS keypads has meanwhile become an indispensable constituent of the company's customer-specific project solutions, from conventional fascia panels and overlays via MTS keypads with or without electronics, right up to complete assemblies with housings and defined interfaces.

Hoffmann + Krippner is now one of the leading keypad manufacturers in Europe. Their customers include large corporations like Siemens and Philips as well as small and medium-sized firms. The company owes its outstanding position on the market to its untiring quest for consistent quality, which was documented by ISO 9001 certification in 1994.

Siegfried Tubel: 'We have developed excellent business relations with Autotype over the years and Autotex is a valuable product that helps us to achieve our corporate goals.'
