NEW CAPILLEX CX
09 June 2003 - Autotype International
| It is a well known fact that improving production productivity is one of the best ways to improve your company's profitability. |
Consequently huge efforts are placed on improving line speeds and throughput, but how much time is really spent on reducing the intangibles - such as set up times, right first time quality, out of spec print wastage, etc? In fact, probably one of the biggest causes of production inefficiency comes from trying to use the wrong stencil for the wrong job. This undoubtedly leads to unnecessary time spent on 'on-press' fixes, such as changing squeegee pressure/angle/ type/speed etc. In many ways this effort is wasted, as it treats the symptoms rather than the cause, especially as the 'fixes' don't always work on the next job. Part of the solution is simple, use the right stencil for the right job! Years of technical development by Autotype International has led to the introduction of Capillex CX, the latest addition to Autotype's proven 'Controlled Profile' stencil system. Capillex CX has been specially developed for the most demanding of industrial applications to improve production efficiency through minimising the stencil influence on ink build to produce a cleaner, more reliable print. The end result is a very flat and low ink deposit with minimal edge build or sawtoothing which reduces ink usage and ensures a consistent finished result. These benefits come from the fact that Capillex CX produces a consistent low, yet controlled, stencil profile of only 3µ, coupled with optimised stencil flatness (low Rz) over a mesh range from 62-100/cm. Conventional stencils used for quality industrial printing give a much higher stencil profile, which often leads to incomplete ink transfer, typically seen as defects in the print, or print to print inconsistencies. Not only does Capillex CX provides a thin, flat stencil on all these coarse to medium mesh counts, the stencils are also exceptionally tough. Capillex CX features excellent mounting characteristics, offers high levels of flexibility, and is solvent and abrasion resistant, making it particularly suitable for demanding applications such as conductive or resistive ink printing, ceramic decals and other critical deposit applications. This new stencil system is also compatible with conventional UV and solvent based inks. Constructed from a sensitised polymer coating on a micro-matted polyester film, Capillex CX is amazingly robust, making it ideal for use in the harshest of industrial environments. David Parker, Marketing Manager for Screen Film Products, at Autotype International said: 'Capillex CX is an integral part of the new 'Controlled Profile' stencil system which is now recognised as a technological breakthrough in stencil development. Capillex CX has been specially developed to overcome the recognised problems associated with conventional stencil systems on coarse to medium mesh counts. As a result, Capillex CX offers many significant benefits to Industrial screen printers, these include opportunities for improved productivity, ink savings and reducing wastage. Printers who have adopted Capillex CX in production have remarked on just how easy it is to get a good result every time!'

About: Autotype International
Specialist coating technology developed by Autotype is used for a wide range of touch and vision electronic applications, including membrane switches and for In Mould Decorated (IMD) products in the automotive, telecommunications and domestic appliances sectors. The company's expertise in precision coating technology enables it to transform and enhance the performance of films for many high technology and demanding applications. These films can provide efficient means of reproducing exacting images or offer protective features such as resistance to aggressive chemicals and be used as stable substrates in the production of key electronic or medical components. Precision graphic systems for the printing sector have enabled industrial screen printers to compete with alternative technologies in the quest for the most complex and accurate reproduction process. The company operates from three locations: Autotype International, in Wantage, England; Autotype Americas Inc. in Schaumburg, near Chicago; Autotype International (Asia) Pte. Ltd. from Singapore. From these three locations we are able to maintain worldwide coverage through experienced and dedicated sales personnel, responding in real time to the changing needs of local markets.
