AUTOTYPE’S MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN
09 September 2002 - Autotype International

Wedding World Wales Ltd’s use of polyester plates and laser printing reflects its commitment to maintaining the very high standards associated with nuptial printing jobs whilst meeting the rapid response times expected. To keep its printing stress-free, the company uses Autotype International Limited’s OMEGA Fast plates.

Roger Matthews, Print Manager at Wedding World, explains that the company is able to ensure delivery within two-weeks by successfully integrating laser printing and Autotype International Limited’s OMEGA Fast polyester plates. He says since their introduction, the OMEGA Fast offset plates have become an integral part of Wedding World’s printing process. 'We’re totally dependent on polyester plates as far as litho printing is concerned - we use nothing else.'

Roger explains he was introduced to OMEGA Fast polyester plates when the company installed a state-of-the-art laser printer. Previously, Wedding World had been 'plodding along' with paper plates, which simply didn’t provide Roger, or the betrothed, with the desired levels of definition. 'The paper plates weren’t very successful, and then someone suggested moving to polyester plates. We got the laser printer which was compatible with the polyester plates and that was it - from day one, we didn’t really have any problems.'

Autotype International’s OMEGA Fast offset plate is ideal for time-critical printing applications, where print quality is a must and budgets are tight. Facilitating extraordinarily quick changeovers, OMEGA Fast has a phenomenal start-up time since no prepping is required. What’s more, with a definition of 120 lpi, a non-hazardous coating and trouble-free disposal, the polyester plate is accurate and easy to use.

Roger notes that the ability to dispose of the plates quickly and without fuss has made a huge difference to the company’s printing process. 'With wedding stationary and short runs, you don’t need to store plates after a job has been finished. Our work is all new work, so we wanted a plate that would give good definition and could be easily discarded.'

Roger says that the adoption of OMEGA Fast was a natural progression from the OMEGA E-Z plates, which require preparation before going to print. 'Autotype has made things simpler with the OMEGA Fast. The new plate rules out the need for etching, which means it’s a case of punching them onto the machine and its ready to go.'

For family-run businesses like Wedding World, OMEGA Fast’s quick changeovers and freedom from cleaning chemicals can have a considerable impact on production costs and turnaround times. The simplicity of taking the plate straight from printer to press - without any need for chemical preparation - is particularly important to high-quality, individual runs, such as weddings.
