| Autotype International Limited has launched OMEGA Fast, a new high quality, cost effective polyester offset plate for single or spot colour jobs. Developed to meet the requirements of rapid turnaround printing, the new OMEGA Fast plate minimises downtime by eliminating the requirement for pre-press preparation, enables fast changeover between jobs and offers fast start-up on press. In controlled trials, the OMEGA Fast plate has consistently achieved clean start-up within ten prints.

Ideal for the production of jobs such as tickets, business stationery, posters, envelopes, invitations and menus, the new OMEGA Fast plate has the advantage that it can be used with a standard laser printer and standard press chemicals. Plate production processes are reduced to three simple stages with the OMEGA Fast plate; laser print, punch and set-up on press - no pre-press preparation is required. The OMEGA Fast polyester plate can be used on presses up to 340mm in width and provides a high print quality of 120lpi. Ideal for short applications, the new plate has demonstrated quality reproduction on runs in excess of 10,000 impressions. 'The new OMEGA Fast plate has been developed to meet the specific market requirements for a cost effective alternative to metal plates, that provides savings both in terms of purchase and labour costs,' says Richard Townsend, Product Manager at Autotype. 'OMEGA Fast meets all these requirements and, as it can be used with a standard laser printer, offers greater flexibility to the marketplace.' Richard continues, 'In addition, by achieving faster start-up on press wastage is reduced - providing further cost savings. The environmental benefit of no pre-press chemicals is also significant.'
