AUTOTYPE OMEGA E-Z & DELTA TAKE TOP ROSETTE AT FOSSE DATA SYSTEMS
20 December 2000 - Autotype International
| Autotype OMEGA E-Z polyester printing plates and Delta Laser Film Positives are enabling Rugby-based Fosse Data Systems Ltd to ensure a high level of quality, maximise productivity and reduce production costs for critical print jobs. |
The Autotype products supplied by Imaging Direct Ltd have helped Fosse Data Systems Ltd create a leading market position in the production of schedules and catalogues for many prestigious dog shows, including the world renowned Crufts Dog Show. Established in 1982, Fosse Data Systems employs 11 people and specialises in printing for Dog shows throughout the UK. The company was the first to offer a fully computerised service to the organisers of dog shows and has since cornered the market in the production of schedules and catalogues. Managing Director, Kathy Gorman, explains that, 'We typically print up to two million schedules a year and mostly deal with single or spot colour work. Our customers demand a combination of quality, competitive prices and, often, fast deliveries, making it important that the equipment and materials we use in production can be relied upon to perform reliably and to a consistent standard'. The two Autotype products used by Fosse Data Systems Ltd have been chosen because they provide a number of advantages over competing products. As Kathy Gorman points out, 'Ease of use, excellent image definition and flexibility are all key factors for us in production. Both OMEGA E-Z and Delta offer these benefits; for example, OMEGA E-Z gives high quality results, when printing both solid colour and finer work, such as the numerous detailed lists inside the catalogues. On the other hand, Delta is ideal for small quantity business cards and letterheads. It provides good results even for laminated paper and delivers a high quality finished product even with jobs where tight registration is critical'. OMEGA E-Z is the new generation polyester litho printing plate from Autotype. The plate can be used with any standard laser printer without the need for post fusing or special chemicals or solvents. As a result, both pre-press time and the emission of strong solvent odours are greatly reduced, compared with conventional platemaking systems. In addition, the speed with which individual plates can be produced is faster than traditional metal plates, furthermore OMEGA E-Z plates are easily disposable. Similarly, the Delta Laser Film Positive delivers computer to film positives in less than a minute. In common with OMEGA E-Z, Delta can also be used on any standard laser printer, is highly versatile and can be used both for imaging screenprinting and offset plates. Kathy Gorman started Fosse Data Systems Ltd with a science degree, a great love of dogs and an in-depth professional knowledge of the dog show industry. 'I did not have that much knowledge about printing though and when we took over a small printing company, I just felt that there must be an easier way of working, that benefited both the machine operator and the environment. Basically, we started with a no frills outlook on production and a philosophy that was to let machines do the work, taking away the drudgery of completing time-consuming and repetitive tasks'. Kathy Gorman is proud of the way her business has developed a partnership with official Autotype Dealer, Imaging Direct Ltd, 'OMEGA E-Z and Delta are all I could have wished for my business. They are both chemical free products and easy to use. Nothing could be simpler than these computer to plate products. Imaging Direct Ltd evaluated our needs and have been always available to help with any service or support queries we may have had. This allows me to concentrate on developing the business.'
